Who we are

Res Publica: one coalition, two traditions

Res Publica is a coalition of Classical Radicals and Effective Altruists, bound by a single conviction: that a republic earns its name only when power answers to its people. In this by-election, Kostas Pastry carries that conviction for Pittston - a practical program for the Caprican House.

The Classical Radicals carry the old fire - liberty, equality before the law, and the dismantling of inherited privilege. The Effective Altruists insist that good intentions are not enough: every policy is measured by the good it actually does, for the most people, at the least cost in liberty.

Our standard is the Republic of Virtue - the old idea that public honor is a crown of merit, earned through service to the people rather than inherited with rank.

Classical Radicalism

Universal civic duty over entrenched hierarchy. Equal standing before the law, and the steady decriminalization of victimless acts.

Effective Altruism

Govern by evidence. Spend public trust where it does the most measurable good, and account for every result.

Res Publica: one coalition, two traditions

The institutions are ours to reclaim - through the constitution, not around it.

The platform

Three commitments for Pittston

Radical in aim, pragmatic in method. Each commitment is a promise we will be held to - on the floor of the Caprican House and in every precinct of Pittston.

01

Civil liberties

The state's first duty is to leave free people free. We will end the criminalization of victimless acts and put individual liberty back at the center of the law.

  • Decriminalize victimless conduct
  • Due process and privacy as defaults
  • Equal standing before the law for every citizen
02

Military oversight

An armed force without accountability is a danger to the republic it claims to defend. When force is used, the public deserves a name and an answer: who gave the order?

  • Independent civilian oversight of the armed forces
  • On-the-record chain of command for every operation
  • Public inquiry powers with real teeth
03

Constitutional reform

The Third Republic will be built by lawful process, not rupture. We will convene reform through the constitution itself - patient, transparent, and binding.

  • A transparent path to the Third Republic
  • Dismantle entrenched, unelected hierarchies
  • Reform ratified by the people, on the record

Rally 1

We Still Stand

Because what I want is a people that has the leash, not one that is leashed. One that knows to get rid of people who would break their trust, including us. Vote for Res Publica in these by-elections, and you vote for a party that exists not to oppose - but to construct. The Third Republic will be built. And it will be built here - together, with you.

What the People Want

What I believe in is quite simple: A person gets tired of useless prattle, as it does not feed them. It does not give them shoes, clothes. It does not give them a roof to live under. What our people want is not a boot to its face, a master, or to have slaves under them. What they want is to be free, to live happy, free. And not only free of repression but also free of worry.
